When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 129

Meanwhile, Ethan had caught up with Josephine.

Her face was puffed up in anger, her usually cool gaze now carrying a sharp edge, though her cheeks were tinged with a faint flush. Both her hands were clenched into tight fists, her frustration practically radiating off her.noveldrama

Ethan couldn't help but chuckle. Josephine still looked exactly like she did when she was a kid-adorable even when she was mad.

But what had truly surprised him was how decisively she had rejected Nick. He

had expected her to endure it, to swallow her pride and negotiate.

"Before we came here, I did warn you that he's arrogant and blunt."

Josephine abruptly stopped in her tracks, turning to him with a serious expression. "Arrogance is one thing. But being outright rude and disrespecting others is another."

"You're right. He was both rude and disrespectful to you just now."

Josephine blinked, slightly taken aback by how readily he agreed with her. Instead of feeling reassured, she found herself worrying about him instead. "But won't you get into trouble for walking away with me like that?"

Ethan chuckled. "I think you should be more worried about whether you'll upset him, not me."

"I'm not worried." Josephine arched her brow confidently. "Right now, I just want to focus on making this film. Once it's out, I'll prove him wrong and make him regret not going for the role. Besides, I've already secured my investors, my lead actor, my cinematographer, and even the theaters. Even if I offend him, what can he possibly do to me?"

Ethan fell silent for a moment, studying her. There were actually plenty of ways Nick could make things difficult for her. For one, if he pulled a few strings, he could force the film into endless rounds of censorship, making her re-edit it again and again until it was butchered beyond recognition.

Then, there was marketing and public reception. If he made a call, no major media outlets in the country would dare promote her film. Influential critics might even deliberately trash it, turning a good movie into a flop.

All of these were things Nick could do without breaking a sweat. But she was clearly unaware of how deep the waters ran. Her career had been built overseas for the past two years she had no idea how things worked here or about the unspoken rules of the industry.

But he didn't plan on telling her. Watching her stand there, eyes burning with determination, he simply smiled. "Alright then, let's do our best and make this film

a success! But if you don't want him, who are you going to cast?"

Josephine responded solemnly, "While I was arguing with him earlier, I had an idea. Instead of forcing a well-known veteran actor to play struggling scavenger, why don't we give a chance to a fresh

face someone who's been struggling for years and never had the chance to play a lead role?"

"That's a good idea. But it'll make things harder for you."

"I don't mind!" Her eyes sparkled with excitement. "If it's for the film, I'll gladly take on the extra work."

As soon as her words fell, her phone rang. Josephine hastily pulled it out, muttering, "Sorry," before glancing at the screen. It was an unknown number. Thinking it was someone from the film crew, she answered on speakerphone.

"Josephine, I'm in Sunvale. Can we meet?" She immediately turned off the speakerphone and stepped away to take the call. "I told you—if you need something, talk to Mr. Brown directly!"

Ethan, standing a short distance behind her, narrowed his eyes. They were already divorced. Why was this man still haunting her like a damn ghost?
