You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 137 Elijah’s Intervention

Elijah’s gaze finally shifted from the file when he heard Freya Stone’s name. Ronan Vega, pleased with himself, flipped open the file for Elijah to see, revealing the photograph and the names of the two people. “See?”

Elijah’s expression remained calm and impassive, with no trace of emotion. “Ronan Vega, Freya Stone is a woman I no longer want. You can have her if you like.”

Ronan Vega knew Elijah was skilled at pretending, and was not fazed by his sarcasm. “A woman you don’t want anymore, that’s because you don’t know her value. I don’t mind that she’s had a man before, and in any case, she’ll only belong to me from now on. I have to thank Mr Silverton for giving her up to me. Don’t worry, I will love her well.”

“You can get out of here now!” Elijah signed his name at the bottom of the document with a scrawl, and then tossed it aside.

Ronan Vega smiled broadly, his demeanor exuding a sense of triumphalism. “Mr Silverton, don’t forget to come on Saturday.

With those words, Ronan Vega left Elijah’s office, whistling a tune as he went.

Elijah’s lips curled into a humorless smile as he watched Ronan Vega leave.

Freya Stone!

He ground his teeth in anger.

She – deserved to be punished!

He knew he should try to forget about her, try not to care about her, but it was all too late now. The moment he saw the photograph of her and Ronan Vega, his anger rose up like a boiling kettle. The urge to throttle her almost overwhelmed him.

He took a deep breath and tried to calm down.

“Mr Silverton…” Elara entered the office without knocking.

Elijah was already in a bad mood and her failure to knock made him even more irritable. He scowled and growled, “Get out!”

Elara was taken aback and quickly closed the door, her heart pounding. She had never seen Elijah so angry before. She thought to herself, Elijah must be furious about something. It would be better for her not to stick her nose into it right now.

Just then, Xander hurried over. He saw Elara and asked, “Did you made Mr Silverton angry?”

Xander had noticed that when he talked with Elijah in the phone earlier.

Elara shook her head. “No, I came to deliver the business plan, but before I could even hand it over, he started yelling at me and kicked me out of the office. What happened?”

“How do I know?” Xander replied with an impatient tone. Just a moment ago, he was almost scared out of his wits during the phone call. Taking a deep breath, he pushed open the office door and walked over with a cautious attempt to please, “Mr Silverton.”

“Find something for Ronan Vega to do,” Elijah forcefully loosened his collar, threw the tie onto the table, and panted heavily. “I don’t care how you do it, just don’t let him have it too easy.”

Xander’s mind churned; did Ronan Vega provoke Elijah again?

“Mr Silverton, after the incidents the last two times, Ronan Vega has become smarter. If you want to target the company, he’s practically untraceable now…”

Elijah raised his eyes, a cold gleam flashed, piercing like a knife. “Xander, are you becoming more competent now? If we can’t handle it on the business front, can’t you think of anything else?” Xander lowered his head. “I see.”

“Act quickly!” Elijah had never been this impatient; he was frustrated.

Even though the collar wasn’t tight, he felt it difficult to breathe. Unbuttoning two buttons didn’t alleviate the discomfort. He had never stumbled in any matter before. But because of Freya Stone, he repeatedly found himself in a mess, not acting like his usual self.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

He despised this version of himself.

Why did he let his emotions go awry because of that heartless woman?

Was she worth it?!

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.

Exiting the office, Xander patted his chest. He couldn’t fathom where Elijah’s anger was coming from.

“Mr Cross, what’s wrong with Elijah?” Elara hadn’t left; she was waiting for Xander. She wanted to know why Elijah was angry.

Though Elijah seemed to treat her differently, every time Xander heard Elara Montague call Elijah by his first name, he couldn’t help but frown.

Did this woman really see herself as the boss here?

For some reason, Xander didn’t like Elara Montague.

Casually, he said, “Mr Silverton has this kind of temper.”

Having said that, he walked away.

Following up, Elara asked, “Mr Cross, don’t rush off. Do you think if I go in now, he’ll still be angry?”

“You can try.” Xander smiled. He knew Elijah was still hot-tempered; whoever went in would be targeted.

Elara Montague was smart, “I’ll wait a bit before going in. What if he’s still angry, and I walk in, wouldn’t I be asking for trouble?”

Xander couldn’t help but chuckle, “Pretty clever.”

“I just don’t want to provoke Elijah’s anger.” Elara finished and walked away with the documents.

Because of Ronan Vega’s appearance, Elijah’s mood was bad all day. He couldn’t concentrate on work and even made wrong decisions. He wasn’t in the mood for socializing and left early.

The villa was still the same, with Linda preparing meals according to his preferences. The only difference was that Freya Stone no longer lived here, though she hadn’t been here for too long.

Elijah felt like something was missing. He had grown accustomed to her presence, for which he found himself ridiculous.

“Mr Silverton,” Linda approached cautiously.

Since Freya left, Elijah’s temper had worsened, and Linda served him even more carefully.

“What is it?” Elijah took off his coat, sat on the sofa, pressed his forehead, and said, “Pour me a glass of water.”

Linda went to fetch water and handed it to him.

After a few sips, Elijah put the glass down, and Linda asked, “How should we deal with that painting upstairs?”

Freya’s things were cleared out, except for that painting.

Thinking of the painting, Elijah’s expression changed briefly, but he quickly concealed it. “Cover it.”

“Alright.”

“Forget it.” Elijah suddenly stood up. “I’ll handle it myself.”

Saying that, he went upstairs.

Elijah didn’t cover it. He stood in front of the painting. K’s painting skills were excellent, capturing Freya’s charm vividly. Elijah carefully studied the figure in the painting, as if she were right in front of him.

Time flew by, and it was already Friday.

While managing the company, Freya also attended adult classes. Due to Zane Stone’s previous indulgence by his mother, his academic performance was not good. Freya had to supervise him and make sure he studied well. There was still time to make an effort.

Freya focused on her career. She wanted to preserve what her father left and, when Zane Stone could handle things on his own, hand over the company entirely to him. She didn’t want to disappoint Leo’s trust.

Freya and Zane went home together, but on the way, they received a call about a problem at the company. So, they diverted back to the office halfway.

“What’s going on?” Zane asked.

“The last batch of goods sent out by the company was all returned,” the person in charge of shipping said.

“What’s the issue?” Freya asked.

The shipping person said, “No issue.”

Zane wasn’t calm. He raised his voice, “If there’s no issue, why were they returned?”

The person in charge of shipping trembled and dared not speak. Freya sensed something and spoke gently, “If you have something to say, just say it. If you don’t speak, we can’t solve the problem.”

“I heard they did it on purpose, as if Elijah Silverton intervened.”
