You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 200 Trap

Just as Arwen was about to speak, Colton snatched the phone away, saying, “Oh, my phone, why are you answering it?”

Arwen paused for a few seconds, squinting her eyes. It was clear that Colton was feeling guilty.

Colton had no choice but to grab the phone. If it was Elara Montague calling, he would be exposed.

“Give me the phone, now.” Arwen reached out her hand, her expression serious.

Colton refused.

“Colton Silverton, are you doing something behind my back?” Arwen asked with a cold face.

“How is that possible? How could I betray you? You’re overthinking things…” Colton’s words were cut off as Arwen snatched the phone back and answered, “Hello…”

“Arwen, where’s Colton?” The voice was familiar to Arwen, it was one of Colton Silverton’s friends.

She knew him too.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Colton clearly heard it too, and he breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. He now had confidence and sneered at Arwen, “You’re always suspicious, making me lose face in front of my friends. They almost think I’m henpecked? How can I survive in the future?”

Arwen laughed and explained, “Oh, come on, I’m just concerned about you, I didn’t mean to suspect you.”

Colton took the phone back and went outside to take the call.

Arwen secretly followed to listen. She didn’t find anything suspicious. But Colton’s behavior just now was abnormal, he was clearly nervous about her answering the call.

“You must be tired lately.” Colton hung up the phone and walked back in, saying, “I just had the servant stew bird’s nest for you. Eat it and take a nap, let’s see how exhausted you’ve become these past few days.”

Arwen was touched, believing that her husband still cared about her.

She smiled, “Isn’t this all for you and our son? We’re all part of the Silverton family, why should everything belong to your elder brother? From now on, you’ll have the final say in the Silverton family.”

Colton hugged her, “I know you’ve put so much effort into this family, you’ve worked hard. Don’t worry, I won’t let you down. In all these years, when have I ever done something to betray you? Have I?”

Colton had truly been honest and faithful in their relationship, and Arwen couldn’t find a single fault. Arwen rubbed her temples, realizing that she might have overreacted. It was probably because she had been so stressed with the company’s affairs these past few days that her nerves were on edge and she became sensitive.

“Thank you for understanding, my husband.” Arwen nestled in his arms.

Colton subtly let out a sigh of relief and smiled, holding Arwen in bed, saying, “Let me give you a massage, relax a bit.”

“Mm.” Arwen lay down on the bed.

Perhaps she had been woo tired, so she fell asleep unknowingly.

The Next Day.

Arwen and Thorne arrived at a high-end restaurant where they had arranged to meet with Evan Drake, the CEO of Eastsun Group.

Evan Drake was running late, causing Thorne to worry. “Is Evan Drake having second thoughts?”

Arwen, however, remained composed and assured her son, “I’ve done some research, and I’ve heard that Evan Drake is a man of integrity, well-respected in the industry. He wouldn’t just stand us up.”

Just as she finished speaking, Evan Drake approached their table.

Arwen immediately stood up with her son. “Mr Drake, hello.”

Evan Drake smiled humbly and apologized, “I apologize for being late due to some unforeseen circumstances. I hope you haven’t been waiting too long.”

“Not at all. We just arrived ourselves. You’re not late. Please, have a seat,” Arwen replied with a smile.

Evan Drake took his seat and got straight to the point, handing over a folder. “These are the components developed by my company. They are used in airplanes and large ferries, and they can reduce fuel consumption by thirty percent. Due to financial constraints, I had to seek investment. Otherwise, I would never accept any financial support. I believe you understand that once my components are successfully developed and launched, they will have a monopoly in the market. I assume that is also what caught your attention and made you want to invest in me.”

Arwen and Thorne were indeed drawn to that very point. They urgently needed a breakthrough to make their mark in the company.

“Yes, exactly,” Arwen poured tea for Evan Drake. “In the country, our Headence Group holds considerable influence. I believe you’re aware of that.”

Evan Drake nodded. “Of course, that’s why I agreed to meet with you. After all, there are too many people interested in investing in me. I can’t meet with all of them. I only choose to interact with those who have real potential.”

“We’re not familiar with this industry, so we have to be cautious,” Arwen said as she opened the folder Evan Drake had handed her.

The content inside was detailed, including designs and research materials. However, they couldn’t understand it fully; it all looked highly technical to them. Thorne leaned closer to Arwen and whispered, “Mom, should we find a professional to help us? We don’t understand any of this.”

Arwen hesitated for a moment. The project seemed promising, but she was afraid of making a mistake. After all, research and development like this required a significant amount of investment. Their available funds in the company were limited.

Evan Drake noticed their interaction and spoke slowly, “I understand your concerns. Cooperation like this can’t be forced. I have also arranged a meeting with the CEO of B&T Group. If you finish reviewing the materials and still have doubts, I will leave first.”

He seemed anxious to leave.

Arwen, upon hearing about potential competition, hurriedly said, “Look, we’ve already met. You haven’t even had your meal yet. It’s only right that we eat together.”

Evan Drake sighed and said helplessly, “I know the CEO of B&T Group, and we can consider ourselves friends. I can’t refuse his invitation. Besides, B&T is also within my considerations. So…”

“Mr Drake,” Thorne poured a glass of wine for Evan Drake, “We’re all here now. There’s no reason not to have a meal. Even if you’re busy, you still need to eat. We can eat and chat at the same time. You can go to B&T Group later. It won’t delay you much. Besides, who knows? What if we succeed in our cooperation? Then B&T Group won’t matter anymore.”

“Well, I have to say, if Elijah was still in charge of Headence Group, they would be our top choice,” Evan Drake hesitated, clearly expressing his doubts. He quickly added, “It’s not that I don’t think you’re capable, it’s just that you’re new to the position and I don’t know much about you…”

“So, you don’t trust us?” Thorne responded, slightly annoyed.

Comparing him to Elijah? Implying that he was inferior to Elijah?

“We’ve decided to invest with you, so there’s no need for you to meet with the president of B&T Group.” Thorne firmly decided.

Evan Drake seemed hesitant, “Are you sure about this? It seems like a quick decision…”

“There’s nothing to think about,” Thorne said confidently.

Arwen had made up her mind as well. If they hesitated and someone else took this opportunity, they would lose it.

“Yes, Headence Group is willing to invest in Eastsun Group,” Arwen said.

Evan Drake appeared conflicted on the surface, but deep down, he was overjoyed.

“Are you really not going to reconsider?” Evan Drake hesitated, “I have a close relationship with the president of B&T Group…”

“We’re ready to sign the contract now,” Thorne declared.

Evan Drake had no choice but to agree, “Alright then.”

After the meal, they prepared to sign the contract. To make himself more desirable, Evan Drake’s phone rang countless times during the meal, all calls requesting meetings with him. Thorne and Arwen felt like they had struck gold. After meeting with Evan Drake, the whole process took just three hours, and the contract was signed.

Evan Drake held the contract and said, “When you have time, you can come visit my company.”

“We’ll definitely come,” Thorne said.

“Great, whenever you’re free, just contact me,” Evan Drake said. “I have some other matters to attend to, so I’ll leave now.”

“I’ll walk you out,” Thorne offered.

Evan Drake gladly accepted, and as they walked, they said, “We’re partners now.”

“Yes, here’s to a successful partnership,” Thorne replied.

“We’re going to have a great working relationship,” Evan Drake smiled, his smile holding a deeper meaning.

Thorne was basking in the joy of a successful contract signing and didn’t notice anything unusual.

As Evan Drake left Headence Group, he got into his car. As the driver started the car, Evan looked out the window at the majestic building and dialed a number on his phone.

The call was quickly answered.
