You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 209 The Sacrifice

When Thorne saw the news, he kept telling himself that it must be another company with the same name as Eastsun Group that went bankrupt. It couldn’t possibly be the one he had invested in. After all, he had just signed a contract with Evan yesterday.

Standing in front of his desk, he turned off the news and placed his hand on his chest, repeatedly whispering to himself, “Stay calm, stay calm. There’s no way my investment could go wrong.”

He stood there, feeling out of place, for a while before picking up the phone and dialing Evan’s number. But no one answered. Unable to contain his anxiety any longer, Thorne abruptly left the office to find out what was going on.

As he reached the gates of Headence Group, he saw Arwen hurrying towards him.

“Thorne, I heard that Eastsun Group is in trouble. Is it true?” Arwen had also heard the rumors and came over specifically to find out.

“I was just about to go to Eastsun Group,” Thorne replied.

“I’ll go with you.” Arwen said.

This situation was too significant. If Eastsun Group went bankrupt, not only would their investments go down the drain, but they might also bear some responsibility since they had signed contracts with Evan.

“I can handle it myself. You should go take care of my father’s matters,” Thorne said, walking towards his car.

Arwen watched her son’s figure and felt a sense of panic in her heart. From Colton’s affair to the troubles at Eastsun Group, it seemed like everything was developing in a rhythmic pattern.

Before she could think too much, her phone suddenly rang. It was Deck calling, informing her that Jack had called Colton back, and now he wanted her to return as well.

She said okay and hung up the phone. As she was about to get into her car, she noticed Elara Montague in a nearby café. And she wasn’t alone; she was sitting across from Evan Drake.

How did Elara and Evan know each other?

A bad premonition suddenly arose within her. Arwen suddenly widened her eyes, and in a flash, she discovered the key.

Elara stole a document from Elijah and gave it to her. Arwen used that document to bring Elijah down, causing chaos within the company. And then Evan appeared, seemingly like a stroke of luck. Following that, Colton’s affair… All of this couldn’t be a coincidence. Someone was orchestrating everything behind the scenes.

Elara in the café seemed to sense someone watching her. She turned her head and through the glass wall, she saw Arwen not far away. Realizing that she had defeated Arwen at her own game, Elara couldn’t help but smile. Indeed, success and failure depended on who one was dealing with. She had believed in Elijah and now achieved victory. However, she didn’t know that in Elijah’s plan, she was also a sacrifice.

Arwen crossed the road and approached. Evan and Elara stood up, preparing to leave.

“Is this all your scheme? Elijah is the one pulling the strings behind you?” Arwen was now certain that Elijah was the mastermind behind all of this.

No one else had his cunning. And no one would go to such lengths just to deal with her.

Evan glanced coldly at Arwen, his expression filled with disdain and mockery. “Yesterday, Thorne and I signed a new contract. He now owns 80% of Eastsun Group and is the new CEO. However, he might end up with massive debts.”

Arwen took a step back, leaning against the wall for support. “No, that’s impossible. He’s not foolish. Why would he sign such a contract with you for no reason?”

“Of course, he’s not foolish. He wants to take advantage of the situation,” Evan adjusted his unruffled collar. “He initially invested six billion, which was just a drop in the bucket. Later, he gave me another fifteen billion…”

“The company doesn’t have that much money. He couldn’t possibly have given it.” Arwen didn’t believe it. She knew the company’s financial situation very well. There simply wasn’t much money.

“He gave it alright. He sold off two projects, totaling twenty billion,” Evan smirked. “But now, Eastsun Group is bankrupt, and the debts could reach up to hundreds of billions. The authorities are already seizing all of Eastsun Group’s projects.”

Arwen’s face turned pale.

Elara chimed in, adding insult to injury. “Your husband said he wants to marry me, to give me and my child a home.”

Arwen raised her hand, ready to slap her. Elara was slow to react, but Evan intercepted Arwen’s hand. Evan pushed Arwen away. “You’re just upset because karma finally caught up with you. You’ve done so many despicable things, and now you’re facing the consequences.”

Arwen trembled, her legs weak, but she stared at Evan with intense hatred. She threatened, “It’s not the final moment yet. The outcome is still uncertain. Don’t be too smug.”

Elara chimed in, “Well, I’m certainly happier than you are.”

“Oh, by the way, let me tell you something. The child in my womb isn’t your husband’s. He’s completely infatuated with me now, wanting to marry me, spending every day thinking about being in my bed. But this child, the one you ‘gifted’ me, I’ll find him a good father. Thank you for giving me a child and giving me your husband…” Elara saw the bloodless face of Arwen and felt a satisfying pleasure. “You should go home quickly. Your husband will definitely divorce you and marry me.”

“Do you dream of entering the Silverton family? Dream on!” Arwen turned and walked away.

Her body wobbled, and her ankles gave way, causing her to collapse.

Elara let out a cold snort.

Evan said, “You should go home now. Be careful, she might come after you.”

“I’m not afraid of her.” Elara felt triumphant.

With Colton by her side, she confidently approached the fallen Arwen and taunted her, “Colton said you’re a hag, but in my opinion, you’re not even deserving of that title. You’re a heartless witch. You ruined my innocence, used me to save your son, and what did I get in return? Arwen Silverton, now it’s your turn for retribution!”

After saying that, she forcefully kicked Arwen and continued, “I will make sure you lose everything! Just wait and see, you wretched woman. I will make Colton not only leave you, but also leave you with nothing. You’ll be left with nothing, living on the streets, a pariah that everyone despises.”

Evan knew how conniving Arwen could be, and he knew that Elara’s lack of self-restraint wasn’t a good thing. However, he didn’t intervene. He sighed, as if he had already foreseen her tragic future when he looked at Elara. Arwen wouldn’t let her get away with this.

Elara, having gained the upper hand, was determined not to miss the opportunity to humiliate Arwen further. She hurled a few more harsh words at Arwen before finally walking away, still unsatisfied.

Arwen had never experienced such humiliation before. It was the first time. She had never felt so powerless. This was also the first time. It was an hour later when she returned to the Silverton family. Colton had already grown impatient and was about to leave. Arwen arrived just in time.

Jack was also displeased. “Where have you been? Why did you take so long?”

Arwen sat on the couch like a lifeless body, not uttering a word in the face of their accusations. Colton was now fed up with Arwen’s. He had lost his patience with her and even felt disgusted. “Since you can’t accept Elara, let’s get a divorce.”

Arwen’s lifeless eyes finally showed some movement as she looked at Colton. “The child in Elara’s womb is not yours…”

“Don’t slander her again. She never said a bad word about you. When we slept together, she was still a virgin. Whose child is it then?” Colton disliked Arwen bringing up Elara and thought she was being unreasonable.

He used to think she was understanding, but now she just wore a jealous expression! It was irritating to look at.

“You raised a son who would lay his hands on me. Arwen, is that your doing?” Colton was concerned about the punch Thorne had thrown at him.

He was a man, and he had his pride. Getting beaten up by his own son?

If that news got out, how could he face anyone?

“What? Thorne laid his hands on you?” Jack was surprised.

Colton said, “It was all her doing.” He pointed the blame directly at Arwen.

Arwen felt like her heart had turned to ashes. She had devoted herself to this family, to her husband, to her child. And now, she found herself in such a dire situation? She stood up and said, “Colton, let’s go home. Dad needs rest.”

“Now you know? Where were you earlier? Weren’t you the one who brought it up to Dad?” Colton’s face was filled with anger.

Jack couldn’t stand it anymore and said, “Just go home.”

He couldn’t do anything about it. His health was poor, and he didn’t have the energy to deal with it.

Colton glared at Arwen and walked away. Expressionless, Arwen followed. As they sat in the car, Colton couldn’t stand being in the same space as Arwen. His face clearly showed his annoyance and impatience. Arwen no longer cared.

“Let’s talk at home. If you want a divorce, if you want anything, I’ll agree to it,” Arwen said.

She was being so accommodating, and Colton was pleased. He drove them back home. Soon, when they arrived at their place, Colton got out of the car and walked towards the house without paying any attention to Arwen. Arwen stood by the car door, watching Colton’s receding figure. There was a brief struggle in her eyes, but it quickly faded into resignation because she knew that Colton now only felt disgust towards her. She had nothing left to cling to.This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Entering the living room, she picked up a fruit knife from the fruit bowl and thrust it into Colton’s back!
