Chapter 219 Stay with Me for a While, Please?
Without delay, she fell into a sturdy and warm embrace!=. Instinctively, she shrunk her body and turned to look at Elijah, whispering, “What are you doing? You scared me.”
Elijah looked at her, his voice deep, “Who told you to tempt me by not wearing clothes?”
Clearly, it was all because of him.
She softly pleaded, “I’m tired, and I’m really running late.”
Elijah made a soft sound of agreement and carried her into the bathroom.
Nothing else happened.
Lately, Freya had lost quite a bit of weight, and he didn’t want to keep bothering her.
Suddenly, Linda came up and knocked on the door, “Mr Silverton, Xander is here. He says it’s urgent.”
Upon hearing this, Freya pushed Elijah lightly, “You go out first.”
Elijah looked at her, “Do you want me to leave that badly?”
She did feel that way in her heart, but she couldn’t say it. She smiled, with sparkling water droplets on her arm, and reached out from the bathtub to hook her arms around his neck, “Then don’t go.”
The urgent knocking sound came again.
“Mr Silverton…”
Elijah got up and walked out of the bathroom, casually grabbing a tissue to wipe the water off his neck.
He opened the door, “What’s the matter?”
At that moment, Xander walked over, looking very serious.
“Mr Silverton, I received something today.”
His expression was grave.
“What is it?” Elijah asked.
Xander handed him an envelope. Elijah took it, opened it, and pulled out a photograph. As soon as he saw the photo, his face instantly changed.
“Come with me.”
He closed the door and walked towards the study. Xander followed closely behind. The two of them stayed in the study for over ten minutes before leaving.
Freya came out, and Elijah had already left. She had a quick bite to eat and then kissed Kai’s cheek, saying, “Thank you, Linda, for taking care of Kieran.”
Linda smiled and replied, “It’s my duty.”
Freya still expressed her gratitude. She truly appreciated Linda’s responsibility and the good care she provided for her son. It allowed her to have peace of mind while going to work.
As she was about to leave, she suddenly remembered to ask, “Elijah has already left?”All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Linda nodded, “Xander came by, seemed like something urgent.”
Freya nodded in understanding.
On the way to the hospital, Freya was looking at her phone and came across news about Arwen Silverton. The trial was today, and the verdict would be announced after the trial concluded.
“Did Xander come to see Elijah because of Arwen?” she wondered.
Arwen’s case should already have a definite outcome. There shouldn’t be any surprises. She couldn’t figure it out. The car suddenly stopped, and they had already arrived at the hospital. She snapped out of her thoughts, got out of the car, and walked inside.
Sivin Peters had finished checking a room and was reviewing a patient’s medical records. When Freya approached, he walked out of his office and saw her. His expression was serious. “Just arrived?”
Freya felt guilty and cautiously approached, explaining in a soft voice, “I didn’t mean to be late…”
“A doctor reported to me that the lounge is not enough. You need to clean up the storage room and turn it into a lounge. It needs to be ready today. Also, you need to file the medical records from the past month.” He said.
Freya widened her eyes. “There’s so much stuff in the storage room, I can’t handle it alone…”
“Use the time you spend sleeping, and you’ll get it done,” Sivin said, without showing any mercy, and walked away. He had always been strict with Freya, making her do everything. This time, making her clean up the storage room and file the medical records was definitely a punishment. These tasks couldn’t be completed in just one day. Yet, he demanded that she finish them in one day.
It was downright insane!
But who made Sivin Peters so skilled? Freya admired him, so she could only willingly go and do it.
By the afternoon, around four o’clock, she had finished moving everything from the storage room. She was exhausted and hadn’t eaten anything, only drinking two bottles of water. Before she could catch her breath, hoping to be home by midnight, she hurriedly started organizing the medical records.
“Have someone else do that. Come with me,” Sivin Peters suddenly appeared at the door.
Freya put down what she was holding and walked over. Although Sivin Peters was strict and demanding towards Freya, he also sincerely taught her skills. He would always take Freya with him for surgeries. This time, he asked her to follow him because he received a rare medical case.
Entering the ward, Sivin Peters handed Freya some X-rays and asked her to take a look.
“What do you see from these X-rays?” he asked.
As Freya was observing the X-rays, someone called her.
“Freya.”
She followed the voice and saw Ronan Vega standing by the bedside.
Surprised, she asked, “What are you doing here?”
“This is my mother.” He introduced.
Freya noticed the woman lying on the hospital bed.
“I heard that Dr. Peters is a specialist in heart conditions, so I brought my mom here.” Ronan said.
Freya understood and continued looking at the X-rays.
“The patient has acute heart failure, ventricular fibrillation, and severe valve stenosis. This condition is very dangerous.” She accurately observed, and Sivin Peters nodded in satisfaction.
“My plan is to perform surgery as soon as possible. With your current condition, there is a constant risk to your life.” Sivin said to the patient.
“What are the risks of the surgery?” Ronan asked.
“It’s fifty-fifty,” Sivin Peters said.
Ronan was not satisfied with this answer. Fifty-fifty odds seemed like a gamble.
“Although the odds are small, if you don’t have the surgery, you don’t even have a fifty-fifty chance.” Sivin calmly explained. “I can give you some time to consider, but I hope it won’t be too long. Your mother’s condition leaves no other choice.”
After speaking, Sivin left with Freya. In the hallway, he asked, “Do you have any thoughts on this surgery?”
Without hesitation, Freya replied, “Performing the surgery as soon as possible is definitely the best choice at the moment. Each episode of ventricular fibrillation could be fatal for the patient, and with the accompanying valve stenosis, there is a constant risk of cardiac arrest.”
Sivin nodded. “Well said.”
“Do you know the patient’s family?” he asked.
Freya nodded. “Yes.”
“If he comes to you, you need to explain it to him.” Sivin instructed.
Freya understood. “I will.”
“Freya,” Ronan stood behind her.
As if Sivin Peters had anticipated it, he said indifferently, “Go ahead.”
Freya nodded and walked towards Ronan Vega.
“Can we find a place to talk?” she suggested.
Ronan was willing. He had sought out Freya because he had something to ask her. There was a small garden behind the hospital, which was a suitable place.
“I have a question for you, and I want you to answer honestly,” Ronan looked at Freya. “Is conservative treatment an option?”
Freya shook her head directly. “No, it’s not.”
Ronan had never opened up to anyone about his personal matters before, but this time, he shared it with Freya. “My father passed away, and my mom is the only family I have left. She means a lot to me. Even though sometimes she annoys me with her strict ways, I know it’s for my good.”
Freya expressed understanding. “You want her to be with you for as long as possible. Surgery is the best choice. I believe you came here because you heard about Sivin Peters’s reputation. I think you can trust him.”
Ronan looked at her. Freya felt uncomfortable under his gaze and made an excuse. “I still have work to do, so I should go.”
Ronan grabbed her wrist. “Stay with me for a while, please?”
Freya refused. “I still have work.”
She tried to pull her hand away. But Ronan tightened his grip when he saw someone approaching from a distance. And he took the opportunity to pull her into his embrace.
