Chapter 234 Guilty Heart
She saw the person clearly in front of her. The anger on his face was identical to Elijah’s. Both were terrifying, making her want to retreat in fear.
“Elijah?” She swallowed nervously.
She reached out to touch him, to see if he was real or just a figment of her imagination, but before her hand could make contact, Elijah suddenly turned around and said, “Come out.”
Sitting on the bed, her thoughts seemed to be struggling to keep up. She looked at Ronan, then at Xander and Evan standing at the door. Her head suddenly started to ache.
Freya rubbed her temples forcefully. It took a while for the pain to subside. She began to regain some clarity. If Evan and Xander were here, it meant that Elijah had indeed returned.
So, it was Elijah just now?
She panicked and got off the bed.
Freya didn’t even bother putting on her shoes before running out.
Xander and Evan glanced at Ronan and snorted disdainfully. They thought his actions were low, unbecoming of a gentleman. Ronan lifted his head slightly. He was afraid of Elijah, but he was not afraid of them. “What are you looking at? If it wasn’t for me, Freya might be sleeping on the streets. You should thank me.”
Xander couldn’t stand him the most. “I went easy on you when I beat you last time. Next time, I’ll knock out all your teeth. Let’s see if you still dare to covet another man’s wife.”
Ronan shrugged, indifferent. “You, as an assistant, don’t you think you’re overstepping your boundaries? You even want to meddle in your boss’s personal affairs?”
“Are you asking for trouble?” Xander got angry and took a step forward, ready to strike. But Evan grabbed his arm and said, “Let it go.”
“But I can’t stand him.” Xander struggled forward, eager to make a move.
“Dealing with someone like him would only be an insult to ourselves. Let’s go.”
Evan pulled Xander away.
“What do you mean?” Ronan yelled.
Xander glanced back at him and coldly snorted, “The literal meaning, can’t you understand?”
Ronan slammed the door shut with a loud sound. Angry, he didn’t want to see Xander’s annoying face anymore. But thinking about it, Elijah must be feeling worse than him now, right? His woman had stayed in a room with another man. Even if they didn’t do anything, Elijah would still feel uncomfortable.
Oh, Ronan really did cause trouble for Elijah. He lay down on the bed. There was still a faint smell of alcohol on the bed. It was left by Freya. It seemed to still carry her warmth. Ronan covered himself with the blanket and rested his head on the pillow that Freya had used. He even reached out and touched it. Then he felt a bit “perverted” himself. He comforted himself, “I must just love her too much to behave like this.”
Hmm, that must be it.
He closed his eyes and peacefully fell asleep. The pain in his mouth seemed to have subsided.
…
Freya caught up with Elijah and sat in the car. She clasped her knees with both hands and felt inexplicably guilty. She didn’t do anything. She just had a little bit of alcohol, and it seemed like she was with Ronan?
She wasn’t even wearing shoes, her bare feet on the ground. Her fair skin, rubbing nervously, was covered in dust. Her mouth felt dry and uncomfortable. With a hoarse voice, she asked, “When did you come back?”
Elijah didn’t say a word. The anger in his heart hadn’t subsided.
She drank, and she was with a man who had feelings for her. If Ronan did something to her…
Elijah couldn’t think about it, as it would give him a terrible headache.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Freya couldn’t hear his response and turned her head to look at him. It was as if the alcohol had completely cleared from her system.
“Are you angry?”
Otherwise, why would he ignore her?
Elijah slowly turned his head to look at her. “Are you sober now?”
