Chapter 113
Examination
"Don't meddle. Let them figure it out on their own. Whether they end things or continue, it's up to them," Paul responded solemnly. "Paul..."
Lily tried to say more, but Scott quickly interjected, "Alright, Dad's right. Harper and Benjamin are adults. They should handle their affairs. You've been wanting to travel, right? We have some time now. How about we head to the countryside for a few days?"
So, the Martin family completely let go of the couple's issues.
Time flew by, and before they knew it, three days had passed.
Harper threw herself into work for most of the time, but as she returned to her apartment after work, the facade of pretending that nothing was wrong would shatter, and her heart would once again become heavily burdened.
She tried to maintain a calm exterior, repeatedly telling herself, "It's okay. Once I get through this, everything will start to look up."
But saying it was easy, doing it took time.
Harper pushed herself to adapt quickly, but ultimately, it backfired.
Early on the fourth day, Harper woke up feeling a slight ache in her abdomen, a sensation that gave her a sense of foreboding. She quickly contacted Julie and drove to the hospital.
Julie accompanied her for the examination, and the doctor said, "There's no major issue. It's just due to emotional distress. You need to keep a cheerful mood. Although the first three months, the critical period, have passed, the baby in the womb can still be affected by the mother's emotions, leading to other unavoidable issues."
Harper breathed a sigh of relief.
Julie reassured her, "It's okay. Just pay more attention to yourself and maintain a happy mood."
Harper nodded, silently reminding herself to stay happy for the sake of the baby.
After the check-up, Julie walked with Harper to the elevator, reminding her, "Eat more nutritious foods. You've been losing weight recently..." Harper nodded. "Okay."
Julie went on with several other instructions, and Harper listened attentively, completely unaware of Larry staring at her nearby.
With a furrowed brow, Larry muttered, "Harper? What's she doing here?"

"What else can she do here? Either her period's late or she suspects she's pregnant," the woman beside Larry, holding the test results, said, "Harper is Benjamin's wife?"
"Yeah." He nodded, then glanced at the woman and said, "I'm going out for a smoke."
However, barry didn't go for a
smoke. Instead, he made a call. When it connected, he immediately

"So what?"
Benjamin thought, "Isn't it normal to see a doctor when feeling unwell?"
Larry, a bit agitated, exclaimed, "I was here with my sister for her

Benjamin fell silent.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Although he had always taken precautions with Harper, accidents were still possible.
With a stern face and a hoarse voice, Benjamin said, "Stop her from leaving the hospital. I'm on my way." After speaking, he abruptly ended the call.
Larry sent a message to his sister and hurried to intercept Harper.
Harper was sitting in the lobby, waiting for Julie to finish her shift, but instead of Julie, Larry arrived.
Seeing Larry, Harper furrowed her brows slightly but maintained a neutral expression when he approached.
Larry felt a bit awkward under her gaze. "Harper, what a coincidence."
"Yeah, quite a coincidence."
Larry asked, "Why are you here alone at the hospital? Didn't you bring Benjamin with you?"
"I had something to do. I came to see a friend," Harper replied casually.
