I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 157

Marital Strife

"Ms. Davis threw some nasty words around, and Mrs. Martin got ticked off, so she slammed Ms. Davis against the wall."

Even though Curtis hadn't seen it himself, he could piece together what happened. After all, after a year of knowing Harper, he knew she wasn't the type to stir up trouble without reason.

"Is she hurt?"

Benjamin's voice was low, with a hint of detachment.

Curtis hesitated, then replied softly, "No, Mrs. Martin just gave Ms. Davis a warning..."

Benjamin's face darkened, his tone turning cool. "Starting today, I don't need to hear about anything involving Harper anymore."

Curtis was taken aback by the decision.

But he nodded. "Okay, Mr. Martin."

"Does it mean I don't have to report anything about Mrs. Martin?" Curtis pondered, deciding not to press further, and quickly left the office.

Benjamin's decision threw Harper's company into a state of tension. Many were concerned about the project, and Summit Realty learned that it was because of Harper that Benjamin decided to end the collaboration.

Edward personally visited and pleaded, "Mrs. Martin, can't you and Mr. Martin settle your personal issues privately? His decision has put our company in a tight spot. Several new contracts we were about to sign got scrapped. If this goes on, we might go under."

Harper remained silent, her expression serious. Edward's words hit home. In the cutthroat world of business, the Martin Group's stature and the tendency for people to go with the flow made it difficult to course-correct once things went awry.

Frank furrowed his brow, casting a sympathetic glance at Harper before turning to Edward. "Mr. Wilson, we get it. Harper just came back from the Martin Group. Benjamin's being stubborn as hell. Mixing personal stuff with business has put us in a bind."

"Mr. Parker, it's not like that. Married couples fight all the time, right? If Mrs. Martin just smooths things over a bit, this mess will blow over."

Frank's face hardened. "Mr. Wilson, if that's your stance, then I'm afraid there's not much else to talk about. We have a contract. If you're losing, so are we." Edward looked displeased. "Are you saying you won't even try to negotiate?"

"Mr. Wilson, I'm sorry for any trouble and losses my actions caused your company. I'll do what I can to fix things," Harper said firmly, meeting Edward's gaze. With that, the argument came to an end.

After Edward left, Frank's expression grew solemn as he asked, "Harper, what's your plan? Are you thinking of going to see Benjamin?"

"Forget about it. I'll figure something out."Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"Harper."

"Alright, Frank. Let's drop it, okay?"

Frank had a sullen face, and Harper returned to her office.

The news of the incident had already spread within their social circle, sparking various speculations about the altercation between Benjamin and Harper.

However, neither of them offered any explanation, leaving others to speculate. Some suggested it was a strategic move by the couple to push Summit Realty out of the picture, leaving the company scrambling for solutions.

In the evening, Harper drove to the Martin Manor.

As Paul and the others were having dinner, they heard the sound of car. Lily assumed, "Is Benjamin back?"

"Hmph, back to flaunt his power by mistreating his wife?" Paul grumbled angrily.

He was well aware of Benjamin's recent decision.

Even now, he hesitated to reach out to Harper, feeling disdain for Benjamin's behavior.

When Paul heard footsteps approaching, he didn't bother to turn and snapped, "You're back? If I were as arrogant and heartless as you, I wouldn't step foot in this house again. You better leave. Our family doesn't need you!"
