Out of the blue, this company called Stellar Group swooped in and snagged 47% of Oceanview Group's shares, including 30% that belonged to Declan.

Oliver never saw it coming. Just half an hour after he took over as CEO, the company went belly up.

Oceanview Group was a mess, but Declan had vanished, hiding out in a room at the top of the Sapphire Sky Hotel.

When Allison left school and checked her phone, she was surprised by the news and looked at James.

James gave her a reassuring smile. "Mr. Carter wanted me to tell you not to stress about Oceanview Group. It's just a distraction."

Allison nodded, but she couldn't help but wonder about Oliver.

"So, what's Oliver like?" she asked.

James paused, thinking. "Allegra Walker, the head of the Walker family, has two sons. Her older son is Declan's dad. Her younger son, Oliver's dad, is her favorite. Oceanview Group was actually started by Declan's dad and doesn't have much to do with the Walker family, but because Allegra plays favorites..."

James trailed off, but Allison got the picture. With a biased grandma and a compliant dad, Declan had it rough. Yet, he always seemed upbeat, which Allison admired. Most people would have lost it in his shoes.

But Allison only knew part of the story. Allegra was notoriously tough.

"Mr. Carter has already booked a hotel for you. After I pick up your guests, I'll take them there," James said, catching Allison off guard. Alexander had booked a hotel for her?

Despite his earlier bossy attitude, Alexander always ended up looking out for her. She found this side of him sweet.

"Let's swing by Kismet to grab some food, then head to the office. I want to have lunch with Alexander. Don't tell him I'm coming," Allison said.

James chuckled and nodded. Only Allison knew how to handle Alexander.

The office group chat had been blowing up earlier. It was clear Alexander was in a bad mood after his argument with Allison, and several executives had messaged James for help. But there wasn't much he could do.

When Allison got to the office, it was almost noon. Outside Alexander's office, the secretaries were arguing.

"You go in. You've been here the longest. Mr. Carter won't yell at you."

"No way! You're younger. Maybe he'll go easy on you."

None of the dozen secretaries dared to go in. Five executives had already been chewed out, and one of them-a female CFO-had even been brought to tears.

The secretaries were shaking as they held their lunch boxes. When James arrived with Allison, they looked at him like he was their hero and quickly handed over the food before scattering.

James rolled his eyes. These were supposed to be the top staff of Carter Group, yet they were acting like scaredy-cats.

He opened the door for Allison. As soon as she stepped in, she felt a chill. It wasn't even winter yet, but the room felt like an icebox.

"Who let you in? Get out!" Alexander's voice was as icy as the room.

He was so cold; he could freeze the sun!

Allison paused and looked at him. "Are you sure you want me to leave?"

Hearing Allison's voice, Alexander looked up and quickly got out of his chair, rushing over to her. "What are you doing here?"

"Am I not allowed? Or are you hiding a woman in here?" Allison teased, glancing around the office as if inspecting it.

Alexander couldn't help but laugh. "If I were hiding a woman, it would only be you!"

He took her hand and led her to the sofa.

James brought over the food containers. "Mr. Carter, Ms. Bennett picked up these

dishes from Ellis Family's restaurant. Enjoy your meal."

After James left, Alexander pulled Allison into a hug.

"Trying to make up with me?" he asked.

Allison smiled at him. Sometimes, he could be really childish, sulking over the littlest things.

"Alexander, you're such a big kid sometimes. I wasn't doing anything dangerous. You can't keep saying no to everything. You'll lose points for that!" Allison said.

Points? Alexander frowned but was quickly disarmed when Allison kissed his chin.

The cold atmosphere melted away as he leaned in for a deeper kiss, cupping her neck gently.

Just like that, Alexander's anger dissipated. He even fed Allison, taking care of her with great tenderness.

"After lunch, take a nap. I'll have James pick up your friends. We'll go to the hotel together after work," Alexander said.

"Together?" Allison looked at him. "You're coming with me?"

Alexander laughed. "Allison, did you forget who I am? I'm your fiancé. Isn't it normal for us to share a hotel room?"

Allison blushed at his words and pushed him away, heading to the lounge.

She was exhausted after a busy morning. By the time Alexander finished cleaning up, she was already asleep.

He sighed, tucked her in, and went back to work.

The proposal had finally been revised for the seventh time. The three executives presenting it were on edge. One more round of revisions, and they might have lost it.

"It's good. Send it to the other departments for implementation," Alexander said.

They were almost in disbelief at how easily it passed.

"Is it really okay?" one of them asked.

Alexander shot them a cold look. "What, you want to work late tonight?"

They quickly shook their heads and ran off with the proposal.

James entered just as they were fleeing and was a bit surprised.

"Mr. Carter, Griffin is back. He says the project is finalized. Here is the contract for your review." James handed the documents to Alexander, hesitating for a moment.

"Is there something else?" Alexander asked.

James smiled. "Teddy is back too. Griffin said he's going home to see his kid and is
