The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 174 Even

Alexander grabbed his work laptop and some warm clothes for Allison. The bedroom closet was already half-filled with her clothes, a detail she hadn't noticed yet.

He'd been prepping for her stay for a while, stocking up on the latest designer collections, each piece handpicked by him.

"Mr. Carter, let me handle that," Felicity offered, trailing behind Alexander and packing a couple of outfits.

By the time Alexander left, he was loaded down with bags.

Back at the hotel, Allison was busy with Felix and Sabrina, finalizing the last steps and running a few demos.

"Allison, we're all set for tomorrow's competition. Felix and I will be backstage to support them," Sabrina said.

Allison nodded, spreading out the equipment. The final showdown promised to be intense, and Felix was already itching to get started.

James showed up to let Allison know dinner was ready.

Dinner was abundant, featuring Truffle Risotto, Oysters Rockefeller, and Lobster Thermidor all of Felix's favorites.

Carl sat next to Allison, naturally offering to feed her.

Allison felt awkward. "I can eat by myself, you know."

"What, Alexander can feed you, but I can't?" Carl teased.

Allison quickly shook her head. "My arm's fine, really. I can manage."

In the end, Allison declined Carl's help.

When Alexander returned, he was loaded down like a parent dropping off supplies for their kid at camp.

"Liliana made you some soup. You can't eat the food here," Alexander said as he expertly served the soup and began feeding Allison.

This time, she didn't refuse.

Carl watched, feeling a hollow ache in his chest, as if his precious treasure was being taken away, leaving him raw and bleeding.

Alexander's attentiveness to Allison drew envious looks from Sabrina, while Felix rolled his eyes.

"Allison, it feels like you're not injured but just pampered," Felix commented.

Carl shot Felix a look that made him shrink back into his seat, silencing him.

Allison chuckled, and Sabrina joined in, while Alexander allowed a small smile to play on his lips.

Even though the plans were set, Allison didn't stay idle. She had ongoing projects with Cleo and Benjamin that needed her attention, leading to late-night work sessions.

She went to Carl's room, where a doctor was waiting.

"Go with them for a check-up," Carl instructed.

Allison didn't object, following the doctor. These were doctors from Genesis Creations, top-notch in their field, using equipment Allison had designed herself.

"Gaia, your scapula is healing well. Have you been using any topical treatments?" the doctor, Lance Callahan, asked.

"Yes, a new ointment I developed. I upgraded the base ingredients, and it seems to work well," Allison replied.

Lance, who had a keen interest in traditional medicine, was intrigued. "When will you introduce me to Mr. Watson?"

Allison smiled. "Mr. Watson rarely meets outsiders, but I'll arrange it when the time is right. The lab will coordinate with you, Mr. Callahan."

Lance nodded, satisfied. "Your shoulder is healing well, but avoid excessive movement."

Allison nodded, escorting Lance out before testing her arm. It no longer hurt.

"Is your shoulder okay?" Carl asked.

"Yeah, it feels much better. The ointment really works. I'll have Henry make a batch for you to keep," Allison said.

Carl nodded, and they resumed discussing the third phase of their project with Benjamin. The increasing complexity had created a bottleneck for Allison's team.

"Allison, this integration is too difficult. The vascular imaging is too abstract; we have no clear concept," Felix said, scratching his green hair in frustration.

"You're right. That's why I'm planning to have you and Sabrina intern at Dr. White's research institute for three months. You'll start the paperwork after tomorrow," Allison announced, leaving Felix stunned.

"Wait, I came here to help, and you're sending me off to work? Allison, that's not fair! I'm an esports champion, and you want me to be an intern?" Felix protested.noveldrama

Unlike Felix, Sabrina was excited. "Allison, really? I can actually go?"

Allison ruffled Sabrina's hair. "Of course. I've already spoken to Henry. He'll take you both there. He'll be in the lab for the next three months, so he'll be there with you."

Carl watched Allison, noting how much she had grown in just a few months. She was less aloof and more approachable.

"I asked Alexander for some land," Carl said suddenly.

His tone made asking for land sound as easy as asking for candy, leaving the group stunned.

"Are you planning to build a house?" Allison asked, puzzled.

"No, a factory. I want to build a pharmaceutical plant and a lab for you to manage. Mr. Callahan will stay on as well," Carl explained, trusting Lance implicitly.

Allison was still trying to wrap her head around it. "Isn't that a bit much? And is it safe to build here?"

Carl laughed. "I'm not doing this on a whim, Allison. I've done my research. The security here is good. With Alexander's help, the factory will be safe."

Carl's thorough planning reassured Allison. This could be the start of her business empire.

"Thank you, Carl. I'll buy the land from him. We won't owe him anything," Allison said firmly.

"Of course," Carl replied. His initial intention was to get some benefits from Alexander; otherwise, he would feel resentful.

However, Carl was quite pleased with Allison's attitude. He believed that the highest

level of love was not owing each other anything, and Allison's words showed that she was still clear-headed.
