Chapter 175 Elijah Is Missing
In the middle of the night, Alexander rang the doorbell.
The bodyguard let him in without a second thought, which caught Alexander off guard. The whole place was buzzing with activity, and Allison looked especially serious.
"What's going on?" Alexander asked.
Allison, surprised to see him, quickly came over and grabbed his hand.
"A friend of ours has gone missing in the country. His tracker just went dark," she said, pulling Alexander over to the computer screen and pointing at a spot on the map.
Alexander's brow furrowed as he looked at it. "That area's got tricky terrain. There are mines nearby, so electronics and compasses are useless. Plus, there are a lot of poisonous critters."
The missing person was Elijah. He'd been following a secret lead but disappeared in that dangerous area.
Alexander double-checked the location and then stepped aside to make a call. "Was your mission three days ago at Whispering Pine Valley?"
After getting confirmation, Alexander went back to Allison. "Landon's there too. I called him; he might be able to help."
"Landon?" Allison was shocked. She never knew what Landon did for a living, but now it made sense.
"He's military?" she asked.
Alexander nodded. "There was some trouble there recently, so he's on a mission. But why was your friend there?"
Allison glanced at Carl, unsure if she should tell Alexander everything.
Carl, noticing her hesitation, stepped in.
"Someone broke into our lab and stole critical data. Elijah tracked them to that area and now he's missing," Carl explained.
Alexander's frown deepened. Landon was on a covert mission involving illegal deals. It looked like they were tangled up in the same mess.
"I'll let Landon know to look for your friend. But the terrain's tough; it might take some time," Alexander said.
An idea hit Allison. "Alexander, can you connect me with Landon? I can send a drone to guide them. It's made of special materials that cut down on magnetic interference and can do infrared scans."noveldrama
"Alright. I'll call him. You can talk to him," Alexander said.
Allison quickly sat at the computer, took off the sling from her neck, and started typing. Soon, the drone was up in the air, with cameras capturing everything.
Just then, Landon's call came through.
"Landon, Allison needs to talk to you," Alexander said.
Landon, in the jungle, was surprised to hear Allison's voice.

"Landon, it's Allison. I have a friend missing near your location. I've got a drone overhead. I'll send one your way to help you navigate," Allison said.
Landon couldn't believe it. A drone out here in the wild? Then a red dot appeared in the sky. His team raised their weapons, but Landon signaled them to hold fire. The
drone descended, projecting images from four different angles.
"I've scanned the area. How many are in your team?" Allison asked.
"Seven," Landon replied.
Allison activated the infrared scan, revealing the surroundings more clearly. The results were shocking.
"Mr. Wells, there are more than just the seven of us. Look over there there are people, and a lot of them," a teammate reported.
Landon's expression grew serious. "Keep it down. We don't want to alert them." Allison's voice then came through their earpieces. "I've hacked into your comms. I can guide you now. You're near the border, and there's a military buildup. An internal conflict might break out. Be careful, Mr. Wells."
Landon glanced at the drone's feed and signaled his team to stay alert. Following the drone's guidance, they moved forward.
With the drone's scans, Allison mapped out the area's geography. The rainforest's subtropical climate was unpredictable rainy, humid, and with sudden temperature drops. Without proper prep, one could easily get lost or suffer from hypothermia.
Meanwhile, Felix and Cleo were trying to trace Elijah's signal. Allison pinpointed his last known location and directed Landon there.

As Landon got closer, he caught the strong scent of blood. His team also sensed something was off. With a hand gesture, Landon signaled them to spread out and search. It didn't take long for them to find over a dozen bodies.
"There was a fight here, but no guns. It was all hand-to-hand combat," Landon reported.
Allison clenched her fists. It seemed Elijah had fought these people, but it was unclear if he was injured.
"We'll follow the blood trail and search for any wounded who might be hiding, but we only have five minutes. We can't guarantee we'll find him," Landon said, making Cleo and the others more anxious.
Allison took a deep breath. Elijah's tracker was implanted under his skin. It would only go dark if removed or if he was dead.
"Look for any flashing red lights. If you find one, it's Elijah's signal," Allison instructed. Landon's team spread out, searching for the signal. They found a pen emitting a faint glow.
"Mr. Wells, we've found a pen with a light," a team member reported.
Landon approached, and Allison's heart sank at the sight.
"Mr. Wells, that pen is crucial. Please keep it safe and find Elijah. If he left it, he's in danger or discovered something critical. It might relate to your mission," Allison said. Landon's eyes narrowed. He placed the pen in a sealed bag and tucked it into his jacket.
"Ms. Bennett, don't worry. We won't stop looking for him," he assured her.
